SNM will hold its annual Mid-Winter Educational Symposium February 5-8, 2009 at the Hilton Clearwater in Clearwater, FL. This year SNM, the American College of Nuclear Physicians (ACNP) and the American College of Nuclear Medicine (ACNM) unite to create a fused meeting, offering attendees the opportunity to earn up to 31.25 credits.

"The strength and range of the education content that will be presented at the mid-winter meeting are exceptional," said Robert W. Atcher, Ph.D., M.B.A., president of SNM. "Our goal is to bring together the leading educators and researchers in the field to provide a rich learning experience for attendees, who will have in-depth opportunities to learn and stay ahead of the curve in the burgeoning fields of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging."

SNM's Mid-Winter Educational Symposium is designed for nuclear medicine physicians, technologists, radiologists, cardiologists, pharmacists and other professionals who are involved and interested in current and emerging technical and clinical applications of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging and therapy.

At this year's program, participants will examine the increasingly important role of radiopharmaceuticals in targeting therapy-allowing physicians to deliver the right treatment to the right individual at the right time. Attendees will also discuss recent advances in cardiovascular molecular imaging and how these procedures are being used to detect and treat heart disease and investigate how molecular imaging tools are used to effectively evaluate the precise location of disease and individualize patient care.

The mid-winter meeting will be followed by a special workshop, February 8-9, 2009, about the SNM Clinical Trials Network. At this workshop, participants will learn how this new network will facilitate drug development and speed the development, utilization and approval of both imaging biomarkers and diagnostic molecular imaging agents.
