Main Category: Pharmacy / PharmacistArticle Date: 13 Jan 2009 - 1:00 PST
The NPA's winter 2009 newsletter to the NHS, Pharmacy Flyer, is now available to download on the NPA's website. The newsletter updates service commissioners and other NHS personnel on the potential of community pharmacy to provide solutions which will assist in delivering health care and achieving goals set locally and nationally.
The Winter 2009 issue of the Pharmacy Flyer focuses on primary care estate developments in particular GP led health centres (and polyclinics in London).
Margaret Peycke External Relations Information Manager said: "In this issue of Pharmacy Flyer we discuss the possible unintended consequences of relocating a number of GPs into a GP led health centre or polyclinic especially if the new site is some distance from the existing GP premises. Pharmacy Flyer Winter 2009 covers how to mitigate these consequences by making best use of the existing community pharmacy network."
Margaret added: "In addition we raise the issue of Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments (PNA), a robust PNA will be essential when primary care estate developments are being undertaken, new guidance has just been published by NHS Employers. We also review the accreditation of Practioners with Special Interests and the NPA chlamydia testing service which supports the sale of Clamelle (P product of Azithromycin)."
