In an education article based on a clinical case, Andrew Larner of the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool, UK, discusses the case of a 50-year old man who was referred to the Cognitive Function Clinic with a 12- to 18-month history of deterioration in his memory.

This was followed, at the age of 56 years, with complaints of a stiff neck, falls, occasional choking, and difficulty articulating his words. Dr Larner discusses the possible diagnoses, the investigations, and the management of this patient.
