The UK government is to start distributing a leaflet on swine flu to all UK households sometime next week, according to the Department of Health.
The Department of Health has produced a leaflet which provides information on swine flu. The information will include:
- More swine flu data in general
- Data on how swine flu is spread
- What people can do to protect themselves against flu
- What to do if swine flu spreads
- What you should do if you think you have swine flu symptoms
- How to stay up-to-date with the latest information on swine flu
- The number of swine flu cases that have been confirmed in the UK
- How to protect yourself and your family
Good hygiene is crucial. The risk can be significantly reduced with good hygiene, but not eliminated completely. If you do the following you will lower your risk:
- When you cough or sneeze cover your mouth with a tissue.
- Get rid of dirty tissues carefully.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water - this reduces the probability of passing the virus from your hands to your face, or to others.
- Keep kitchen worktops, door handles, and other surfaces that are likely to be touched clean.
