Confirmed Swine Flu Cases Hit The 1,000 Mark

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that the total number of confirmed human cases of swine flu have reached 1,000 globally. The total number of confirmed human deaths in Mexico has dropped to 25, with the number of reported cases of infection standing at 590. The USA reports 226 confirmed human cases and one death.

The WHO stresses that there is absolutely no risk of infection of this virus if you consume well-cooked pork and pork products.

If you are ill you should seriously consider delaying your international trip. If you develop symptoms after travelling abroad you should seek medical attention, in line with your national authority guidance, says WHO. Some countries, such as the UK, are asking people to call their doctor if they have symptoms of swine flu, and not to come in - the aim is to prevent further infection of people.
