At ACHEMA 2009, Bruker AXS, the global market leader in X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) instrumentation, introduces its next-generation D8 ADVANCETM diffraction solution for the analysis of polycrystalline material by means of X-ray powder diffraction.

This latest model D8 ADVANCE is the successor to the most popular X-ray diffractometer on the market. Where the previous D8 ADVANCE achieved the best data on the strength of its high-performance hardware and software, the new D8 ADVANCE increases the ease of use with real-time component detection and plug-and-play functionality. These unique features allow the user to switch easily between most X-ray powder diffraction applications, including qualitative and quantitative crystalline phase identification, micro-structure and crystalline structure analysis, residual stress and texture investigations, X-ray reflectometry and micro-diffraction.

An integral part of the new D8 ADVANCE is the new software DIFFAC.SUITETM with consistently implemented automation functionality: an accessory or subunit mounted onto the instrument registers itself with its relevant parameters and analytical capabilities in real time, including powerful component-conflict detection. The factory-aligned, snap-lock X-ray optics provide true 'plug-and-play' functionality, i.e. automatic and tool-free switching of the diffraction geometry, requiring minimal user intervention. The DIFFRAC.SUITE offers intuitive operation based on a graphical user interface that can be customized to match the operator's requirements. DIFFRAC.SUITE comes along with all the features and leading algorithms of its predecessor DIFFRACplus.

"The new D8 ADVANCE continues the steady stream of innovations within our very successful XRD product line. Our novel design interface between hardware and software provides high level expert analytical XRD capabilities while minimizing user intervention," stated Dr. Arnt Kern, XRD Product Manager at Bruker AXS.

"We are convinced that the new D8 ADVANCE with the DIFFRAC.SUITE software meets the evolving requirements of the global XRD user community, today and in the future. The new D8 ADVANCE will further strengthen our position as the leading global XRD company by expanding the market potential into applications which never used XRD before," commented Dr. Lutz Brügemann, Director of R&D and Marketing at Bruker AXS.
