Volunteers Needed For Diabetes Research Study, Indiana University School Of Medicine Division Of Endocrinology

The Indiana University School of Medicine Division of Endocrinology at Riley Hospital for Children seek participants for two research studies.
Genetics study for African-American or Mexican-Americans who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes or do not have diabetes and do not have an immediate family member with type 1 diabetes.
Natural history study for relatives of individuals with Type 1 diabetes, who will be screened to determine if they are at risk for developing diabetes.
To participate in either screening, individuals must be between the ages of 1 and 45 years and have a sibling, child, or parent with type 1 diabetes or be between the ages of 1 and 20 with a cousin, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, grandparent or half-sibling with type 1 diabetes.
Screenings will held in the Riley Outpatient Center (MSA3) on May 20, June 22, July 27, and Aug. 10. Please call 317-278-8879 or 866-230-8486 to schedule an appointment. Screening involves answering some questions and a simple blood test.
Qualified participants will be compensated for their time and parking expense.
