Current CIHR-funded research: Should children with chronic conditions such as cystic fibrosis and asthma have a right to participate in any medical decisions made about their treatment? Dr. Donna Koller, a professor at Ryerson University and adjunct scientist at SickKids in Toronto, believes so.

Koller is leading a study to find out the degree to which chronically ill children and adolescents are aware of their participation rights and if they believe they have the necessary information to participate effectively. The research findings will help health-care providers understand how best to involve children in decisions that affect their health.
