Law Firm Appointed To Boost Fight Against NHS Fraud
Main Category: Public HealthArticle Date: 07 Jun 2009 - 0:00 PDT
A new partnership between NHS Counter Fraud and law firm Capsticks will strengthen support to health bodies seeking to recover NHS funds lost to fraud.
The innovative new scheme enables NHS bodies to make use of an accessible and cost effective civil recovery service in an area previously considered high risk.
Capsticks' services under the new agreement include:
- an advice line provided by a team of lawyers highly experienced in helping NHS bodies to respond to fraud
- full litigation service where required
- flexible funding options, including competitive rates agreed with NHS Counter Fraud, fixed fees and, where appropriate, "no-win-no-fee" arrangements.
Dermid McCausland, Managing Director of NHS Counter Fraud, said: "I very much look forward to working with Capsticks and am sure this initiative will act as a strong deterrent to any potential fraudsters. Our aim is of course to prevent fraud from happening in the first place but we can now send a very clear message to those who do commit fraud: fraud against the NHS doesn't pay and, wherever possible, we will be seeking financial recovery."
Daniel Purcell, the Partner leading the work at Capsticks, said: "We are delighted to be working with NHS Counter Fraud to energise fraud response across the NHS. We look forward to bringing our experience and expertise in working with NHS bodies in countering fraud to this vitally important and high profile work."
