Over 600 drummers will gather in Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on Monday 13 July to beat a world record in aid of the MS Society.

The drumming challenge, which has been officially recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as a legitimate world record, requires over 533 drummers (the current record) to gather in one place with their drum kit and drum to the same beat.

This is the first time the event has been attempted in the UK and famous faces from the world of music and entertainment are set to attend, including the soap actor, comedian and amateur drummer, John Thompson.

Stick it to MS hopes to raise money for the MS Society through sponsorship, entry fees and spectator tickets. The charity has already received around £20,000 from fundraisers taking part.

Richard Prince, the event organiser, decided to run the event in aid of the MS Society in support of his mother, who has multiple sclerosis.

Community fundraising manager, Hannah Chroston, said: "This is a great innovative and exciting event! We're looking forward to seeing over 600 people 'Stick it to MS' and want to thank Richard for all his hard work."

For more information on the event view the Stick it to MS website.
