This country is at war with obesity and now men join their women in the fight, says Exante Diet.

As the nation's struggle with obesity continues, there is a battle being won in homes around the UK.

Motivated by recent findings that sons with overweight fathers are six times more likely to be obese, more British men than ever are pushing themselves to fight their flab.

And overweight husbands who have watched their wives shed stones with meal replacement diets are finally admitting the women were right all along.

That's according to Exante Diet, the UK's leading online supplier of great-tasting soups, shakes and bars which can provide 100 per cent of the recommended daily allowances (RDAs) of vitamins and nutrients.

"Lots of our male customers say their wives or girlfriends have used meal replacement diets for years," says Jackie Delahunty, co-founder of Exante Diet. "They've seen how successful it can be and are ready to try it themselves.

"We find that men often want to see immediate results and Exante Diet provides that. The weight drops off very quickly and gives them the encouragement they need to keep going."

Philip Beales, 48, a gas fitter and plumber from Reading in Berkshire, struggled with his weight for many years.

"My Dad was very overweight - he drank and smoked heavily - and his brothers were all overweight, too," says Beales. "But I never thought it would happen to me and I just ate whatever I wanted.

"My wife is a caterer so although it's great having lots of cakes and treats round the house I found my weight creeping up and my body ballooning. Before I knew it I was over 25 stone. I tried to put a short-sleeved shirt on one day and found that none fit anymore. I felt absolutely awful."

Beales tried a number of diets but found many were simply a short-term solution and the weight gradually crept back on. After numerous eating plans over two years and still unhappy with his weight he decided to try one last time.

"A friend told me about Exante Diet last Christmas," says Beales. "I weighed 20 stone at the time and was gradually getting heavier again. But the meal replacement plans sounded really easy to follow."

"The four different solutions not only help you find which weight-loss plan is best for you, but they really help you take in everything that is going and learn to control your eating. There's a lot less pressure than other diets, you're not made to feel like a criminal if you lapse once or twice."

Beales now weighs 16 stone and the weight is still dropping off. Feeling confident and looking good, he's returning to traditional meals alongside the tasty soups, shakes and bars.

"I'm more focused now and even go to the gym four times a week," he says. "The great thing about the Exante Diet is that I can even treat myself to the odd mixed grill now and then without feeling bad. I try and stay away from my wife's cakes though."

Exante Diet's variety pack - which contains enough soups, shakes and bars for an entire week - costs just £36.75 and is available for next day delivery.
