Nearly 1,000 nurses joined representatives from the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the White House to discuss the current state of healthcare reform and what it means for nurses and their patients. Healthcare reform is the single most important issue facing this country today; this conference call was a tremendous opportunity for nurses to speak directly with the White House officials shaping the current healthcare debate. ANA continues to be a strong voice for reform and urges all members to advocate for a healthcare system that is patient-centered, comprehensive, affordable, accessible, and delivers the quality of care all people in America deserve.

White House participants included Nancy-Ann DeParle, the director of the White House Office of Health Reform, senior advisor to the president, Valerie Jarrett, Tina Tchen, director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, and White House Communications official David Simas.
