More than 8,500 individuals from the field of pharmaceutical research are expected to attend this year's AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition November 8 - 12, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. During the meeting, scientists from around the world will have the opportunity to present new research, methods and technologies as they relate to the field of pharmaceutical sciences. Not only is the meeting the premiere international event for the industry, it also serves as a forum for presentations and intellectual discussion among representatives from the academia, pharmaceutical, government and scientific worlds.
Presentation highlights include:
- Results from a phase I clinical trial that reveals initial findings of safety surrounding a new device that may more effectively treat menstrual pain;
- Redesign of mouthpieces for aerosol inhaler devices allows for drugs to be more effectively delivered to the lungs and may allow for a new class of aerosol administered medications;
- New methods for delivering measles vaccines that could potentially reduce costs and improve safety;
- New success in identifying the disposition of proteins to treat brain disorders and may affect diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease;
- New method proven effective in animal models to assist drugs in the penetration of dense tissues to reach pancreatic tumor cells for earlier, more effective treatment methods.
