Sandra is a project lead for safeguarding vulnerable adults. She has been a committed RCN activist for the last 30 years and has been Chair of Council since 2005.

Further members of Council who have been elected unopposed to take up key roles are:

- Chair of Nursing Practice and Policy Committee: Andrea Spyropoulos
- Chair of Governance Support Committee: Jenny Booth

Sandra James said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to carry on as Chair of the RCN Council. I look forward to working with the committed individuals that form the Council to continue to help shape the direction of nursing on behalf of our members."

The role of Chair of the Membership and Representation Committee is still to be elected. Further appointments to the other committees which support Council will be also announced shortly.
