The public are invited to discover how psychology can help people lead healthy lifestyles, at a free public lecture at 7.30pm on Wednesday 21st October 2009, Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast.

Professor Charles Abraham from the University of Sussex will be discussing why people continue to engage in behaviours that have detrimental effects on their health at the free public event organised by the Northern Ireland Branch of the British Psychological Society.

He will be discussing the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines on behaviour change, and will consider how health psychology can contribute to changing the public's health-related behaviours. Professor Abraham will also present evidence from his own research, including a trial of an extension to the Weight Watchers programme, and a leaflet designed to promote exercise in schools.
