GASTRO 2009 is the first joint world conference for gastroenterology and offers journalists the opportunity to obtain first hand expert information on the latest gastroenterology research and issues affecting the world today.
Press conference speakers include:
Monday 23rd November:
- Lord Darzi (UK) - The robotic surgeon
- Chris Hawkey (UK) - Abdominal disorders: Diet - Facts and fiction
- Colm O'Morain (Ireland) & Lynn Faulds Wood (UK) - New guidelines for colorectal cancer screening
Tuesday 24th November:
- John Mathers (UK) - Dietary prevention of colorectal cancer
- Cihan Yurdaydin (Turkey) - Hepatitis B: A non-recognised burden in the west
- Guido Costamagna (Italy) - Quality assurance in endoscopy
In addition, other world renowned international experts will be available for interviews on topics such as; treatment of hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, digestive oncology, nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, IBS, Crohn's and coeliac disease.
The GASTRO 2009 UEGW/WCOG, London will be the first time in the history of gastroenterology that the world's leading organisations - the United European Gastroenterology Federation (UEGF), World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO, World Organisation of Digestive Endoscopy (OMED) and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) - have come together to present one of the biggest congresses in this area of medicine.
More than 12,000 scientists from around the world are expected at the congress, which will link science and clinical practice, with a focus on diseases of the stomach, bowel, liver, pancreas and gallbladder, from both a global and UK perspective. Presentations will include subjects that will affect and benefit millions of people around the world.
