Viron To Present Data From Phase II Trial At American Heart Association Conference

Viron Therapeutics Inc., a biopharmaceutical company pioneering the development of viral protein therapeutics, announced that the Company's research collaborator, Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif, Director of the Research Center at the Montreal Heart Institute, will present data from a Phase IIa clinical trial evaluating VT-111 at the American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions 2009 conference. The conference will take place in Orlando, Florida from November 14 to 18, 2009.

The presentation entitled, "Viral Anti-inflammatory Treatment of Unstable Coronary Syndromes: The VT-111 Acute Coronary Syndrome Trial," will disclose recent results from a Phase IIa trial evaluating VT-111, a serine protein inhibitor, in patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes receiving coronary stents. Dr. Tardif's presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 11:00 AM (ET) in Room W304gh of the Orange County Convention Center.

VT-111, an immune-modulating protein therapeutic, is the world's first viral-derived human therapeutic. It is a novel inhibitor of the monocyte/macrophage influx to sites of injury and has demonstrated potent efficacy in preclinical models of acute injury in which inflammation plays a key role.
