Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., in consultation with the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration), is voluntarily recalling all unexpired lots of certain OTC (over-the-counter) Children’s and Infants’ liquid products, including Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl, manufactured in the USA and sold in the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic, Dubai (UAE), Fiji, Guam, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, and Kuwait.

The company says this voluntary recall is being initiated because some of the products may not meet required quality standards. McNeil Consumer Healthcare adds that this recall is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse events. However, parents and caregivers should not administer these medications to their children, as a precautionary measure.

Some of the medications included in the recall might contain higher active ingredient concentrations than specified, while others may contain inactive ingredients that might not meet internal testing requirements. The company added that there is a possibility some products may contain tiny particles that should not be there.

A McNeil Consumer Healthcare press release stresses that the potential for serious medical events is remote. However, consumers who have bought these recalled products should stop using them.

The company is conducting a comprehensive quality assessment across its manufacturing operations and has identified corrective actions that will be implemented before new manufacturing is initiated at the plant where the recalled products were made.

Consumers can contact the company at 1-888-222-6036 and also at http://www.mcneilproductrecall.com.
