Glass fragments found in frozen green peas of The Pictsweet Company of Bells, Tennessee, led to a voluntary recall of specifically coded brand products. The company said the only retail outlets to sell these products are Kroger stores in Southeast USA and Walmart supermarkets throughout the country. The company stresses that no human injuries linked to these products have been reported. People who have bought the recalled products (details below) should not consume them; they should be returned to where they bought them for a full refund.

  • Best by Date of July 15, 2012
  • Best by Dates of July 20, 2012; July 21, 2012
  • Great Value 12 ounce Steamable Mixed Vegetables – UPC 78742 08026
  • Great Value 12 ounce Steamable Sweet Peas – UPC 78742 08369
  • Kroger 12 ounce Green Peas – UPC 11110 89736
  • Kroger 12 ounce Peas and Carrots – UPC 11110 89741
  • Production Codes of 1440BU, 1440BV, 1440BW, and 1600BD
  • Production Codes of 1960BD and 1960BE

Pictsweet Company is also warning that people with sensitivity to milk have a serious allergic reaction risk if they consume Pictsweet 32 ounce Clear Bag Breaded Okra because they contain undeclared milk product. Only the Pitctsweet 32 ounce Clear Bag Breaded Okra with the following five digits at the beginning of the product codes are affected:

  • 1400B
  • 1550B
  • 1660B
  • 1730B
  • 1870B
  • 2030B
  • 2350B
  • 2500B

These products have been distributed to retail outlets in the southeastern parts of the USA.

So far, no allergic reactions or illnesses linked to this product have been reported. The company informs that the packaging redesign should have included milk in its list of ingredients.

Purchasers can return their products to where they bought them for a full refund.
