According to Mildred S Seelig, MD, author of The Magnesium Factor, "Most modern heart disease is caused by magnesium deficiency. A vast and convincing body of research, largely ignored, has convinced us and many of our colleagues of this fact. The diet of the industrial world is short on magnesium, and this is causing an epidemic of heart disease in the modern world."

Peter Gillham, leading nutritional researcher, became informed on magnesium through his own studies over 20 years ago, which lead to the formation of his nutritional company. He found that some of his first trial subjects responded very well to an increase of magnesium in the calcium/magnesium ratio of his supplements. Later, he tested many of them on a straight magnesium formula without the calcium. Very soon after the trial on that formula began, he was getting unbelievable results.

Mr. Gillham, later, gathered together other available references on magnesium supplementation and compiled them into an easy to understand summary of the subject titled, The Miracle Nutrient. He says, "I'm encouraging the public to become informed on this vital nutrient. Many people are suffering from symptoms caused by the deficiency of magnesium, and magnesium is certainly needed by anyone with high blood pressure. The best form of magnesium that I have found to get the best and fastest results is a magnesium-citrate powder that goes into a solution in water. In this form it assimilates quickly into the body, producing almost instant relief. I recommend that people try it and experience the results for themselves."
