Tokyo (JCNN) - Eisai announced on March 16 that its UK subsidiary Eisai Ltd. has received marketing authorization for Zonegran from the European Commission (EC) as of March 10.

This authorization allows the product to be marketed in EU countries for the adjunctive treatment for partial seizures of adult epilepsy patients.

Developed by Eisai, the zonisamide agent Zonegran is currently marketed in the US and Japan (trade name Excegran). By adding the product to its line of nerve drugs, the company aims to meet patients' needs and increase its presence in the EU.
