New Bird Flu Death in Vietnam, Total Now 38 Since 2003

Vietnamese authorities have confirmed that a patient has died after being infected with the bird (avian) flu, H5N1 strain. The 46 year old man came from the north of the country (Hung Yen province). He died last Thursday. So far, 38 people have died of bird flu in the Vietnam since 2003, 58 have died in South East Asia.
The man was admitted to hospital about a week ago. He was complaining of a high temperature and a bad cough.
The death toll in Vietnam since just last December is now 18.
China is starting a vaccination campaign among millions of its poultry farms. In a remote western part of the country dead migratory birds infected with the H5N1 virus were found.
