January is National Blood Donor Month, a month where the millions of blood and platelet donors are recognized and thanked by the American Red Cross for their life-saving contributions. Their donations help guarantee a steady and stable supply of blood for the overwhelming number of patients in need.

“There are world-class athletes that can do certain things better than anyone else. I’m not good at this. I sit here and the staff does the work. Blood can’t be found in a factory or a mill anywhere,It has to come from people, and it’s a gift I don’t mind giving.”

the Red Cross would like to remind those who are still able to give blood to please donate and help the people whose lives depend on it

Last year the World Health Organization stressed the importance of encouraging healthy young people to make frequent donations.
