A sample of suspected bird flu from Romania went missing at Heathrow airport, London, and could not be found for one or perhaps two days.
British Airways transported the sample from Romania. However, as a security team came to pick it up they could not find it. According to the airline no one was at risk at any time. British Airways says it is carrying out an investigation.
At the moment the bird flu virus only spreads easily among birds. Human cannot catch it easily. 100 million birds have died since 2003 as a result of bird flu. 123 people have been infected and 62 have died. All the human infections and death have been in South East Asia.
