With the Back-to-School season now being touted as the second-largest retail season after the holidays and with Americans spending over 100 million dollars a year on non-prescription acne treatments, it is more important than ever for acne products to do much more than just treat a pimple. This August, CLEAN & CLEAR(R) introduced a brand new innovation in acne treatments - the ADVANTAGE(R) Invisible Acne Patch. This is the first acne care technology that not only treats pimples, but also instantly makes them smoother and flatter, so make-up goes on evenly.

Considering that the American Academy of Dermatology reports that over 40 million people in the United States are affected by acne and that nearly 80 percent of people aged 11 to 30 experience acne, a product that not only treats but also smoothes the pimple is needed. "Working with models and celebrities, I see pimples on people of all ages," affirms celebrity make-up artist, Robert Moulton. "Until now, it's been difficult to cover them 100 percent because the blemish is usually raised. I've already had great results with this product because when make-up is applied over this patch, skin looks much more smooth and natural."

In addition to flattening the pimple, this product also delivers two percent Salicylic Acid to help treat the blemish. With so many people looking for an immediate blemish fix, especially during the high-profile Back-to-School season, acne products that help clear up pimples quickly, and make them appear smaller, are also a necessity. "When my patients experience breakouts, they want it to disappear as soon as possible with the smallest amount of fuss," says Dr. Nanette Silverberg, a New York-based dermatologist. "I always recommend that they use an acne treatment with Salicylic Acid because it helps prevent and treat pimples."

The Science

This clear gel works to create an invisible barrier over the pimple providing two percent Salicylic Acid to treat the pimple while smoothing the skin surface to allow for easier make-up application. The innovative ingredient that provides this flattening action is Chitosan PCA, a film-forming polymer that works by contracting the skin's surface to help flatten out the actual pimple by "pulling up" the low points and "pushing down" the high points of the blemish, producing an overall smoother surface. This innovative ingredient is derived from shellfish and was previously utilized in skin care offerings such as anti-wrinkle products, but CLEAN & CLEAR(R) is the first to bring this technology to acne care.

The ADVANTAGE(R) Invisible Acne Patch is available at local drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. For more information about CLEAN & CLEAR(R) and to find other acne fighting advice, please visit http://www.CleanandClear.com.
