37% of heart disease deaths happen because of a lack of physical activity. If you take 10,000 steps a day you should maintain good health. This is according to the British Heart Foundation.
If you want to know how many steps you have taken you should consider getting a Step-O-Meter. You can get one at pharmacies and sports shops. In fact, you might even be able to get it on prescription (UK).
The Step-O-Meter counts every step you take. You wear it around you waist. With this device you will know exactly how many steps you have taken in a day.
It seems that when people get a Step-O-Meter they start walking more.
In a survey, one thousand people who bought one of these gadgets were followed up for seven months. Amazingly, seven months later most of the people were still using it. Most of them said that the Step-O-Meter made them walk more each day.
There is nothing more sobering than finding out you have not even reached half your 10,000 steps for the day.
