Tiantan Puhua Neurosurgical Hospital, the world's leading center for effective treatment of Parkinson's disease and stroke, today here announced a breakthrough in the worldwide treatment of Cerebral Palsy (CP) by introducing neural stem cells through a safe, non-evasive procedure to 19-year-old Gabor Bocskai from Hungary.

The stem cells are introduced into the patient's spinal cord fluid (via Lumbar Puncture) and by the spinal fluid circulation goes directly into the brain. The successful procedure, performed at China's top stem cell facility, makes Mr. Bocskai the first teenage European CP patient to see rapid improvement through stem cell therapy. Unedited videos taken before and after Mr. Bocskai's injections dramatically demonstrate the profound improvement in his 19-year battle to walk, write, focus his eyes, concentrate, and overcome the many other detrimental effects resulting from the CP he acquired at birth. More details and the videos have been published on China's leading Stem Cell News site at http://www.stemcellschina.com.

Some of Mr. Bocskai's most noticeable and immediate physical improvements after the eight-week stem cell therapy program include improved vision, increased eye focus and better concentration on one subject. He also reported clearer writing, enhanced muscle tone, the ability to sit up unsupported, and a new capability to walk and swim in an unassisted manner. As a lifelong quadriplegic with paralysis in his lower limbs, Mr. Bocskai was never able to walk independently, using a wheelchair for transportation. Within four months of the initial treatment, he stated that he was able to walk with the help of a walker and no other support, and at a rate three times faster than ever before with increased maneuverability in his legs and torso. Even his speech became clearer and faster.

In Mr. Bocskai's most recent blog entry dated March 11, 2007, he excitedly stated, "My ability to concentrate has increased up to 6 hours a day as a result of stem cell treatment, so studying is much easer than before. I no longer get tired from learning." (Gabor's CP Blog is at http://www.stemcellschina.com/blogs/Gabor%20cp/)The Hospital announced that Mr. Bocskai has since returned to Hungary from China and has reported continued daily improvement. It also cautioned that not every teenage CP patient treated with stem cell therapy should expect the same impressive results. It suggested all those seeking to learn more about how this treatment could help them to contact the hospital's international department at: kotan.tiantanpuhua@gmail.com

"Cerebral Palsy sufferers worldwide now have an exciting new option to consider for their treatment," said Dr. Sherwood Yang, Vice President of Tiantan Puhua Hospital. "It is commonly believed by multiple authorities that the incidence of CP in the industrialized world is about 2 per 1000 live births. This means every year there are approximately 5,000-10,000 babies born with CP in the United States and well over 40,000 in China, not to mention Europe and the rest of the world. It is satisfying to know that a trip to our Tiantan Puhua Beijing facility may now bring tremendous hope to so many out there who dream of reducing the disheartening and debilitating effects of CP, no matter their age," said Dr. Yang.

Tiantan Puhua's several-weeks treatment program for Mr. Bocskai and other CP sufferers centers on a cutting-edge stem cell treatment that includes approximately four injections of neural stem cells into the spinal cord fluid, a very simple and safe procedure with no procedure-related risks. It also includes a nutritious intravenous cocktail that protects the implanted stem cells, personalized physical therapy, and even an offering of traditional Chinese medicine, all in a hospital whose doctors and staff operate at full international standards. More details on Tiantan Puhua's combination treatment can be found at http://www.stemcellspuhua.com

Gabor Bocskai was born as a result of a premature birth after only 7.5 months of pregnancy, and suffered Septicemia secondary to Gastroenteritis caused by Thrush at the age of only 2 weeks. After the initial infection was resolved, the infant Gabor showed inconsistent bilateral eye movements and quadriplegia, eventually being diagnosed with a moderate mid-brain injury at the age of 6 months and the onset of lifelong CP. As a result, Mr. Bocskai suffered from attention deficit disorder (ADD). He had concentration difficulties, which made reading, writing and studying difficult. He exhibited signs of dyslexia in both Hungarian, his mother tongue, and in German. Even though his speech in these languages and in English was basically good, it was slower than normal in all these languages before the stem cell treatment.
