Among the seven suspects arrested for terrorist attempts in London and Glasgow last week, two are doctors who work in the UK:
- Dr. Bilal Abdulla, from Iraq, was arrested in Glasgow at the scene of the attempt on Saturday.
- Dr. Mohammad Asha, from Jordan, was arrested while driving with his wife on the M6 motorway.
Dr. Asha works at North Staffordshire hospital, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the neurology department. He is registered to work in the UK until 2008.
The police are authorized to hold the suspects without charge for a total of 28 days. Gordon Brown, Prime Minister, would like to increase this to 90 days.
The driver of the car that crashed in flames into Glasgow International Airport is in a critical condition in the Royal Alexandra Hospital - the whole medical staff accommodation block of the hospital has been cordoned off by police.
Scotland Yard believes the incidents in London and Glasgow are linked. Britain's alert status has moved to 'critical', the highest possible. 'Critical' means an imminent attack has been planned. Below 'critical' is 'severe'. MI5 and the police will decide when to alter the present alert status.
