The Australian Nursing Federation, publishers of the Australian Journal of Advanced Nursing (AJAN), announced the journal will now be provided free online.

The AJAN, which is also celebrating 25 years of publication, is a prestigious quarterly internationally peer reviewed journal of nursing research and practice. The AJAN provides an opportunity for nurses in Australia to participate in and publish original research.

"Having the AJAN free online is a very exciting initiative", Jill Iliffe, federal secretary of the ANF said. "It will give unlimited national and international access to AJAN articles and provide unlimited national and international exposure for Australian nurse researchers and their work".

"The ANF is committed to encouraging Australian nursing research. The AJAN is produced by the ANF to provide a vehicle for nurses to publish original research and scholarly papers. A subscription journal limits the exposure of both the authors and their research. We have been working toward a free online publication for some years and it is wonderful that it is now possible. This is a great day for Australian nursing research."

The AJAN will be freely available on its new website: http://www.ajan.com.au.
