Wiley-Blackwell Journals Contribute To Council Of Science Editor's Global Theme Issue

Wiley-Blackwell, the scientific, technical, medical and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), has announced that 16 of its journals will participate in the Council of Science Editor's (CSE) Global Theme Issue dedicated to poverty and human development.

"Poverty and human development is a critical topic that impacts life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of living worldwide. Wiley-Blackwell is pleased to support this international collaboration of scholarly research." said Sue Corbett, Managing Director, Medicine, Wiley-Blackwell, "Our participating journals will be addressing a variety of key issues, such as a review of Trachoma treatment methods, a look at how poverty affects women, in terms of health, pregnancy and equal opportunities, and current access to health information in Zambia."

The Wiley-Blackwell journals taking part in the theme issue are:

Journal of Advanced Nursing

Nursing for Women's Health (formerly AWHONN Lifelines)
Perspectives in Psychiatric Care
Review of Income and Wealth
Transfusion


Wiley-Blackwell supports increasing access to information in developing countries and participates in programs that promote scientific research and development, including HINARI, AGORA and OARE. "Most of our medical, agricultural and environmental journals, as well as The Cochrane Library, are free or reduced-price in developing countries," said Jon Walmsley, Managing Director, Professional, Wiley-Blackwell. "This is core to our efforts to disseminate knowledge and we believe that working with the Council of Science Editors on this issue will help raise awareness and encourage research in the region."

All of the papers published by Wiley-Blackwell journals as part of this global theme issue will be available free online from the journals' homepages.
