This flu season, Cub Pharmacy - owned and operated by America's third largest grocery retailer SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE:SVU) - will offer two convenient ways for customers to be vaccinated with the flu vaccine.

1. Specially trained and certified Cub pharmacist immunizers will be available to administer flu shots to adults 18 and older at most Cub Foods locations, by appointment, during regular pharmacy hours. Through January, patients can schedule an appointment by calling (800) 783-0458. Flu shots may be covered by Medicare Part B and other insurance plans. Cub pharmacists can provide additional details.

2. In-store Flu Fighter flu shot clinics will take place at all Minnesota Cub Foods locations November 7-10, Wednesday-Friday: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are not necessary. Anyone age 5 and older can receive a flu shot at the Flu Fighter Clinics. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency Registered Nurses will administer the flu shots. Check, cash and many forms of insurance are accepted as payment. Flu Fighter flu shot clinics are made possible through the generosity of Health Fair 11, a partnership of Cub Pharmacy, UCare and KARE 11 TV. All proceeds will support healthcare nursing services for disadvantaged families in the community.

"Good health starts with good nutrition and preventative measures such as flu immunization," said Registered Pharmacist Jeff Bregar, manager, Adult Immunization Program.

"At the same time, we realize that the difference between a healthy and an unhealthy lifestyle often comes down to the amount of time in the day," added Bill Baker, registered pharmacist and manager, Clinical Programs Marketing. "By providing immunizations at our in-store pharmacies, we believe we can help our patients make healthy choices by maximizing convenience."

There is no cure for influenza. However, good nutrition can play an important role in minimizing risk for certain cold viruses and other chronic conditions.

"There is a natural relationship between pharmacy and food. As a part of SUPERVALU and the SUPERVALU Pharmacies network of in-store pharmacies across the country, Cub Pharmacy is in the best position to deliver innovative solutions that meet the health needs of today's fast-paced society," Baker said.
