Sharon L. Kellogg, emergency response planner for the University of Maryland Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing leadership and excellence in all aspects of emergency and disaster preparedness. Kellogg, an esteemed Cambridge Who's Who lifetime member, refocused and rededicated her life to public service after the disastrous attacks on September 11, 2001. Since then, she has been instrumental in the development of disaster response plans in the Baltimore area.
Kellogg has 11 years of experience in emergency preparedness. Her role as emergency response planner enables her to work directly with clinical leadership to coordinate the development, implementation and improvement of preparedness and response programs. As an emergency manager, she assists organizations in assessing their vulnerability to disasters and hazards while integrating plans to mitigate susceptibilities. "We plan and conduct realistic training and exercises to ensure sound procedures are in place," she explains. "In the event of a disaster, the emergency manager is present to help the organization respond and recover."
An expert in hazard vulnerability analysis and training, Kellogg takes pride in educating staff on a regular basis. Her greatest professional accomplishment has been designing and conducting The Free State Response 2007 pandemic flu exercise with 10 Baltimore city hospitals, two mental health facilities and five state and local government agencies this year. "I hope that the information enables the staff to minimize the chances of ever becoming a disaster victim," she declares.
Kellogg is pursuing a master's degree in disaster management with a concentration in crisis management from American Military University. She received her bachelor's degree in political science from North Georgia College and her bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from University of Maryland University College. She is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers.
An expert on all aspects of emergency preparedness, simulation and exercise planning, fire safety and patient decontamination, Kellogg is available to speak with the media.
