After an outbreak of avian flu was reported in Hopkins Country, Texas, Mexico's Agriculture Secreteriat has decided to ban all imports of poultry from Texas.
Officials in Mexico say they need proof that the new outbreak is not of the highly contagious strain before they allow imports to resume.
This is the second time a bird flu outbreak in Texas has prompted an import ban from Mexico. The last ban applied to poultry from the whole of the USA.
Mexico imports $93 million's worth of poultry from the USA every year - it is the fourth largest imported of American poultry.
