The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a special award for asthma programs that address environmental triggers as a part of comprehensive care, and now is the time to apply.

The EPA is accepting applications for the fourth annual National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management through February 1, 2008.

The award is a wonderful way for respiratory therapists to gain recognition for the important work they are doing to decrease the effects of environmental triggers on patients in their asthma education programs.

Winners will be honored at the EPA's "Communities in Action for Asthma-Friendly Environments" National Asthma Forum, scheduled for May 1-2, 2008, in Washington, D.C. The achievements of these programs will also be highlighted by the EPA throughout the year.

Visit the award web page to learn more about the program and fill out the application online. You can also register for a special webcast coming up on December 18 that will feature previous award winners, help explain the application process, and give everyone a chance to ask questions about applying.

You can find out more about the EPA's overall asthma program and National Asthma Forum online as well.
