ADInstruments, supplier of the world-leading PowerLab data acquisition and analysis system, has continued to support the international life science community by co-sponsoring and participating in the 2nd Symposium for Biomedical Education at Chang-Gung University, Taiwan.

In association with ADInstruments' Taiwanese partner, Kuo-Yang Scientific, the symposium brought together educators from Taiwan's best institutions and expert international guests, including retired Professor Joe Orlando from Boston College.

Attendees discussed issues including the relationship between basic and clinical medicine teaching and using the English language to teach physiology in Taiwan.

The symposium's agenda also included a keynote address from ADInstruments Regional Manager Dr Peter Parslow. Dr Parslow detailed the application of technological advances to biomedical curriculums worldwide. These advances were illustrated when attendees used PowerLab systems with the innovative education software, LabTutor. In response to growing demand from North Asian educators, several LabTutor experiments have recently been translated into both simplified and traditional Chinese.

The symposium was hosted by Chang-Gung University's Professor YT Lau, President of the Chinese Physiological Society. Professor Lau said the symposium "provided a vehicle for good interactions among important professors involved in the promotion of biomedical education."

The Australian Government has recognized ADInstruments' contributions to the international life science community. In May this year, the company's new Sydney offices were opened by the Federal Minister for Trade, Warren Truss. ADInstruments has also won multiple Australian Institute of Export Awards and features in the Australian Technology Showcase.
