Talyst launched Talyst Capital, its program of lease financing to enable hospitals and integrated healthcare systems to rapidly adopt central-pharmacy automation systems.

The advent of Talyst Capital is one of the announcements the company made at the 2007 Midyear Clinical Meeting of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), underway this week in Las Vegas.

"This step gives hospitals more options for accomplishing and accelerating their pharmacy automation initiatives," explains James E. Torina, president and chief executive officer. "While many of our customers are prepared with their own financing methods, leasing has become an industry standard for capital-intensive healthcare systems, and it offers particular advantages for keeping pace with technology advancements."

According to the ASHP, nearly 20 percent of United States hospitals are now using bedside barcode scanning to ensure safety and accuracy of medication administration. "Moving to barcoded medications and bedside scanning is becoming a standard of care," Torina continued. "Knowing that 80 percent of hospitals are on the verge of this significant improvement, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to gain the advantages of safety, efficiency and control."

"This is just one more way that Talyst can assist our customers with complete solutions for their central pharmacy automation," Torina added. Options available under the Talyst Capital leasing program will be available to current and prospective Talyst customers through the company's nationwide sales team.
