Abbey Road Studios again play host to the exclusive music and photography exhibition and auction on Thursday 28th February 2008.

Memorabilia from the biggest names in music history will be going under the hammer to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, with images including the likes of Johnny Cash, Mick Jagger, The Who and Johnny Borrell.

Sound & Vision 2008 captures music icons from the past and present. Taken by some of the brightest luminaries from the world of music and photography, proceeds from the auction will go towards Cancer Research UK's vital research.

With the event now entering its third year, Sound & Vision 2008 will feature photographic donations that capture some of music's most notorious and best-loved protagonists alike. Items come from photographers including Robert Altman, Henry Diltz, Jamie Hewlett and Terry O'Neill, and the event hopes to raise over £150,000.

Images include signed and limited edition prints and many come with individual stories behind the pictures so offer a unique chance for the buyer to own a part of music history.

Auction lots include Diltz's photo of The Doors which was taken at the Morrison Hotel in downtown Los Angeles in 1969. Band member Ray Manzarek found the hotel and thought it would be a perfect location for a photoshoot, so took Jim Morrison down to see it. However, they were not given permission to shoot so they had take the photo surreptitiously and snatch the image while they could.

A hors commerce print of Sir Peter Blake's legendry Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is included in the contributions and is a rare opportunity to own such a limited edition piece. While Frank Stefanko's limited edition photograph Among the Cabbage Roses of Bruce Springsteen is from the 1978 Darkness on the Edge of Town shoot and appears on the inner sleeve of the album with the same name.

Abbey Road Studios plays host to the occasion, where ticket holders will able to mingle with leading players from the music industry at the prestigious venue. Last year attracted Liam Gallagher, All Saints and Pete Tong, with support from Sir George Martin who is Patron of the event. Guests will be able to see the studio where the Sgt. Pepper's album and other seminal works were recorded, and where Lennon's piano still stands.

In previous years, memorabilia to have gone under the hammer has included John Lennon's dinner jacket, a Billboard Chart Award from the Beach Boys and a Fleetwood Mac gold disc. This year, lots include a signed Sting guitar and the opportunity to recreate one of The Smiths' iconic album covers with the original photographer.

Jools Tait, Cancer Research UK Head of Special Events, said: "One in three of us will develop cancer in our lifetimes. Sound & Vision brings the music and creative industries together to raise money for Cancer Research UK and help us beat cancer. Some amazing work has been generously donated and we are looking forward to a fabulous night for a great cause."
