Main Category: Pharmacy / PharmacistArticle Date: 16 Jan 2008 - 15:00 PDT
ASHP and the ASHP Foundation have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking researchers to conduct a systematic review of the scientific literature that will assess the current evidence of the value of pharmacist provided patient care services in the US.
A major focus of ASHP's enhanced advocacy initiative is to gather evidence in the scientific literature that will bolster the case for expanding pharmacists' role in patient care. Results of the assessment will be used to identify gaps in existing evidence and research questions that need to be answered relative to the value of the pharmacist.
The findings will also be used to help meet the needs of key stakeholders, including:
- Health policy makers,
- 3rd party payers,
- Executives of health care provider organizations, and
- Pharmacy practice leaders.
The systematic review will be based on a rigorous comprehensive synthesis and analysis of the relevant scientific evidence. A $65,000 grant will be awarded. The closing date for the RFP is February 15, 2008.
