New, innovative cancer therapies and drug resistant "super bugs," are just two of the many cutting edge therapeutic workshop topics to be presented at the BIO CEO & Investor Conference. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the tenth annual investor conference for the life sciences industry will take place Feb. 11-13, 2008 at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The three-day program will offer a number of therapeutic workshops on pertinent topics ranging from biotech investments to new advances in treatments and therapies for a wide range of current health issues. Session topics include:

- Antibiotics: "Super Drugs Against Super Bugs" - Learn about the antibiotic drugs biotech companies are developing to combat "superbugs" such as MRSA, and the genetic mutations that make them resistant to an astonishing number of current drugs.

- Cognition: "CNS Companies to Remember" - Learn about companies that are utilizing novel brain receptors, the familiar gingko biloba, neurological cell death inhibition, and other interesting targets in order to address what will surely be a growing problem in this generation entering their golden years.

- Pain: "A Pain-Free Guide to Current Therapies" - Despite the prevalence of pain, clinically effective treatment options are limited. This panel will discuss recent efforts to develop drugs that confer greater efficacy and fewer side-effects.

- Non-Cancer Immunotherapy: "It's not just about Cancer anymore" - Panelists will discuss their fascinating use of unique immunotherapy technologies for indications that you may not expect.

"The BIO CEO & Investor Conference covers the full scope of biotechnology innovation, from new and dynamic therapies to cutting edge investment opportunities," stated Alan Eisenberg, executive vice president, Emerging Companies & Business Development at BIO. "This conference is a key event for industry executives and members of the investment community to meet, network, and discuss the upcoming trends in the biotech industry."

In addition to the therapeutic workshops, this year's conference will feature corporate presentations from more than 200 hundred companies (approximately 80% public, 20% late-stage private), six roundtable sessions, plenary sessions on timely business issues and industry trends, many opportunities to schedule one-on-one meetings, as well as numerous networking opportunities. The conference is designed to foster an informative dialogue between institutional investors and senior biotechnology executives about emerging and current investment opportunities.
