Mobile Aspects announced that the Center for Congenital and Structural Heart Disease (CCSHD) at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, has agreed to install iRISupply™, a clinical resource management system that manages medical devices and supplies through radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The cabinet-based system will be deployed to store, track, and manage the utilization of high cost implantable devices used to treat patients with congenital heart problems such as atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defects, and heart and pulmonary valve replacements.
"With our focus on being the leader in providing the most innovative and clinically effective approaches for correcting congenital heart defects through the use of nonsurgical procedures, our ability to manage the device technology that supports these procedures is critical to our success," commented Dr. Ziyad Hijazi, MPH, director of the CCSHD. "In using the Mobile Aspects RFID enabled technology, we can feel confident that our processes for managing our medical devices and supplies will lead to optimal performance in areas such as product availability, product expiration and recall management, and charge capture accuracy."
Implementation of the iRISupply system will begin in Spring 2008.
To discuss the benefits of iRISupply with pediatric cardiovascular care providers, Mobile Aspects will be exhibiting at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Eleventh Annual Update on Pediatric Cardiovascular Disease conference being held February 6-10 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The IRISupply system is part of the Mobile Aspects One System of CARE™ solution, which employs identification and information technologies to automate processes for clinical resource management by healthcare providers. By automating the storage, tracking, utilization, and billing of clinical resources through RFID, healthcare providers realize enhanced care quality, increased productivity, accurate billing, and significant inventory cost savings.
