"How Non-Group Health Coverage Varies With Income," Kaiser Family Foundation: The analysis examines how often people at different income levels purchase individual health coverage when they do not have access to employer-sponsored coverage or do not obtain public coverage. Researchers found that relatively few people at lower incomes buy individual coverage. As income increases, the coverage rate increases, though even at four times the poverty level, only about a quarter of individuals purchased coverage. Among those with incomes at least 10 times the poverty level, only about half purchased coverage in the non-group market (Kaiser Family Foundation release, 2/4).

New and updated data, Statehealthfacts.org: Statehealthfacts.org recently added new and updated data on Medicaid and SCHIP. The latest state and national CMS data on SCHIP spending are available for fiscal year 2007 by state share, federal share and total expenditures. Federal SCHIP spending data are available for each year since the program's implementation, from federal FY 1998 through FY 2007. In addition, state and national Medicaid and SCHIP enrollment data from the Kaiser Family Foundation's Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured and Health Management Associates are available. Updated data on monthly Medicaid enrollment for December 2006; the percent change in enrollment from December 2005 to December 2006; and new monthly enrollment separately reported for children and adults in Medicaid are now available. Monthly SCHIP enrollment data also have been updated to June 2007 (Kaiser Family Foundation release, 1/31).
