The Altshuller Institute for TRIZ Studies is pleased to announce TRIZCON2008, a conference that focuses on the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ). Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the largest international TRIZ conference in the world will be sponsored by and held at Kent State University's Student Center in Kent, Ohio, from April 13 -15, 2008. This annual event provides an opportunity for both new and experienced users to get an in-depth introduction to TRIZ, selected advanced training in various TRIZ tools and concepts, and to meet with an international group of trainers and end-users.

A collage of concepts and tools that has captured the imagination of many Fortune 500 companies in the United States and abroad, TRIZ often is used in science and engineering circles to solve manufacturing problems and create new products. Companies that have used TRIZ concepts include BAE Systems, Brunswick-LifeFitness, Procter & Gamble, Ford, Boeing, Philips Semiconductor, LG Electronics, Delphi, Boston Scientific, Intel, Iwint-China, S.C. Johnson and Samsung among others.

Eight one-day workshops prior to and after the conference will be offered to introduce and enhance problem solving skills. Also on Saturday, April 12, a free pre-conference workshop will be offered for teachers (K-12 and college) who are interested in bringing TRIZ to the classroom. The first day of the conference, April 13, is dedicated to tutorials for beginners and advanced users of TRIZ, and a third track includes a live application of TRIZ on the Automotive X PRIZE competition that invites teams from around the world to focus on designing a viable, clean and super-efficient car that people want to buy.

During the rest of the conference, a symposium featuring more than 20 papers and case studies on TRIZ and related applications as well as a poster session will take place. In addition, the conference will offer five keynote speakers:

* Ben Berry, Chief Information Officer, Oregon's Department of Transportation

* Dr. Andrew Brown Jr., Executive Director and Chief Technologist, Delphi Corporation

* Marino Kim, President and Global Consultant, TRIZ Korea, Inc.

* Amir Roggel and David Austin, Innovation/TRIZ Leaders, Intel Corp.

* Dr. Cemil Inan, Research and Development Director, Arcelik A.S.
