Inova Health System Inks 8.3m Dollars Deal With GE Healthcare

GE Healthcare IT, a leading vendor for comprehensive clinical, financial and administrative information technology solutions, announced that Inova Health System has selected Centricity Electronic Medical Record (EMR) under Stark Relaxation. The company will donate a significant portion of costs savings from the Stark Relaxation to community physicians, providing improved patient care and real-time visibility across operations.

"Stark Relaxation has created a tremendous opportunity for physicians to overcome the many barriers that prevent them from adopting EMR systems, most notably cost," said James M. Corrigan, vice president and general manager for GE Healthcare Integrated IT Solutions. "By allowing hospitals and other entities to provide EMR technology to physician practices at a subsidy of up to 85 percent, physicians are now better positioned to raise the quality and safety of healthcare."

"Our focus is to provide patients with the highest quality of care and being able to service patients with a single access point to medical data across each of our offices," said Geoff Brown, senior vice president and chief information officer for Inova Health System. "The Centricity solution will provide seamless communication across our offices and the tools our doctors need to provide better, more proactive care to patients."

With the goal to expand its mission with 300 additional physicians in four years, Inova Health System chose the Centricity solutions to strengthen interoperability within its own offices, as well as provide an opportunity to integrate with its community in Northern Virginia. The addition of the EMR will complement Inova's existing Centricity solutions, including Centricity Enterprise and Centricity Perinatal, and various solutions within Inova's lab, with the aim to create an end-to-end opportunity for the patient.
