CapMed, a division of Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: BITI) and a leader in interactive personal health management solutions, announced that it will participate - for the third year in a row - in the Interoperability Showcase, a key event whereby participants pass a variety of tests to demonstrate interoperability capabilities, of the 2008 Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition, to be held February 24-28, 2008, in Orlando, Florida.

"CapMed's PHR platform offers interoperability with hospitals and clinics, pharmacies, health plans, laboratories, data warehouses and online portals," said Wendy Angst, general manager of CapMed. "Our PHR solution integrates data from medication histories, insurance claims, lab tests, electronic medical records and home monitoring devices, while supporting multiple standards, including ASTM CCR, HL7 CDA/CRS and HL7 CCD."

CapMed, which will also feature its new onlinePHR and icePHR Mobile (in case of emergency) solutions at its exhibit booth (#3579) at HIMSS 2008, is the only PHR vendor that has consistently participated in the interoperability showcases of HIMSS. Other high-profile interoperability initiatives have included a National Health Information Network (NHIN) demonstration with IBM.

CapMed will also be presenting at the Microsoft booth (Booth #2247 at demo station #28) on Tuesday, demonstrating connectivity with Microsoft HealthVault and will be highlighted at IBM's booth in IBM's Second Life® Healthcare Island, whereby using the popular Second Life 3-D virtual world, a virtual patient on Healthcare Island uses the CapMed PHR to manage care and communicate with the complete care team.

The HIMSS 2008 Interoperability Showcase presents more than 50 vendors offering solutions designed to create a secure Health Information Exchange (HIE) and support patient-centric clinical workflow. CapMed will demonstrate its strengths in interoperability by using IHE standards, including HL-7 standards and the Continuity of Care Record (CCR). Showcase attendees will be invited to develop their own electronic health records and then access these records across multiple healthcare settings. CapMed will reveal how providers and consumers can easily populate these records with lab results, radiology images, medical summaries, referrals, home monitoring device data and cardiology reports.
