The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) have announced that it has been selected by Blue Shield of California Foundation (BSCF) to participate in a statewide effort to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
APIC will join BSCF and other leading health organizations to expand the Foundation's innovative California Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention Initiative to at least 100 hospitals. The Foundation led a groundbreaking effort in a nine-hospital pilot project, which saw remarkable success in reducing HAIs.
"We are extremely proud to work with Blue Shield of California Foundation on this important program," said Kathy L. Warye, Chief Executive Officer of APIC. "We look forward to joining forces on an effort that has the potential to not only save patient lives, but also scarce healthcare dollars. The combination of education, sharing of evidence-based best practices, and collaboration to reduce HAIs will benefit patients across the state of California."
