Ronald O. Perelman, chairman of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc., will join Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn and others to announce a $50 million gift to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and to officially mark the occasion for plans to establish the newly created Ronald O. Perelman Heart Care Institute, on Thursday, February 28th, 10:45AM at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, 525 E. 68th St. (at York Ave.), New York.

This gift is to be divided equally, $25 million each, between NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College, to establish the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Care Institute and will support new research and clinical care initiatives at the internationally renowned Center for Reproductive Medicine -- which will now be known as the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine.

As part of the announcement, the principal speakers will assemble pieces of a valentine's-style heart, which will join together like puzzle pieces, in celebration of the Heart Institute and national heart health awareness month.

Speaker Christine Quinn will discuss the importance of women's health issues and her program, NYC Women First, an initiative of the New York City Council dedicated to educating women in New York City about major health risks and encouraging them to take preventive actions to protect their health.
