Springer and the Japanese Society of Hematology announce a new partnership to publish the International Journal of Hematology. The journal is available (back to 1997) on Springer's online information platform SpringerLink. The journal appears ten times a year and was previously published by Carden Jennings.

Since 1937 the International Journal of Hematology, which is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Hematology (JSH), has published leading research in hematology. The journal contributes to progress in research in basic and clinical hematology, and aims to cover all aspects of the field, including erythrocytes, leukocytes and hematopoiesis, hemostasis, thrombosis and vascular biology, hematological malignancies, transplantation and cell therapy. The expanded "Progress in Hematology" section integrates relevant fields such as the cell biology of stem cells and cancer cells, as well as clinical research in inflammation, cancer and thrombosis. The results of clinical trials are also included in report form, thus fostering communication among researchers in this growing field.

Editor-in-chief Professor Toshio Suda from the Department of Cell Differentiation, Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, is supported by an international editorial board. He is currently a member of the Expert Committee, both for the Council for Science and Technology and for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. He is the chairman of the the 70th Annual Meeting of JSH in 2008.

Toshio Suda said, "The International Journal of Hematology provides the most up-to-date information on modern hematology, presenting readers with high-impact, original work focusing on pivotal issues. We are excited to be partnering with Springer in the publication of this journal and we look forward to providing clinicians worldwide with information resources for their daily work."

Dr. William F. Curtis, Executive Vice President, Clinical Medicine at Springer, said, "Springer is delighted to welcome the prestigious IInternational Journal of Hematology to our portfolio and to extend the journal's already considerable influence through SpringerLink and our global sales and marketing resources."

Under Springer, the International Journal of Hematology will make use of a manuscript tracking system that speeds publication of important articles in the field. Articles will be published in Online First in full text via SpringerLink. This system ensures immediate distribution of the electronic version of the article before it appears in print. Cross Reference Linking and Alert services will be fully implemented for the journal. It will be distributed in both paper and electronic versions.
