ASHP and the ASHP Foundation are marking National Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 2-8) with a radio tour emphasizing pharmacists' role in medication safety. Scott T. Micek, Pharm.D., BCPS, clinical pharmacist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, conducted 17 interviews, including one with CNN Radio, that educated consumers about the vital patient care role pharmacists play in hospitals and health systems.

The interviews are set for broadcast throughout Patient Safety Awareness Week on local radio stations in Washington, D.C., Syracuse, N.Y., Kansas City, Mo., Minneapolis, Topeka, Kan., and Bangor, Maine.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is the 2007 recipient of the ASHP Foundation's Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety.
