Cycling

posted by Rick on 12 May 2008 at 6:17 am

I am a 57yr old type 2 diabetes sufferer, I had to give up walking because my feet got too sore, I have found that a 30 minute bike ride daily has helped my lower leg pain, however the pain comes back at night when seated in front of the TV, in fact sitting down a lot will make this condition worse, so I do not sit down much.

I Saw A Dr. Today

posted by Mary on 26 Aug 2010 at 8:53 pm

I wrote yesterday about my right leg pain, and pricking sensation..My MD, informed me I have arthritis..I have never been diagnosed with arthritis, so why would he assume that? He gave me a prescript of Motrin 800 mg to take twice a day for a week..If the pain still continues he suggested seeing an orthopedic Dr.. Does he sound on track to you? Thanks

Dr. Won't Listen

posted by Willow on 22 Sept 2010 at 5:36 pm

I am an overwieght 32 yr old woman. I have had severe leg pain and numbness for the past 2 years. Heart disease and diabetes runs in my family very heavily. I personally have Hypoglycemia, Carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis in my legs and arms. I have spoken with my doctor and his reply to me (mind you he didn't take any tests) is " You are fat. Lose weight". I have tried to see other doctors but in the referral he gives me he states that he has found nothing and the new doctors refuse to go against what is stated. Is there anywhere I can receive honest help?

Lower leg pain

posted by Stewart on 11 Oct 2010 at 6:26 am

I have lower leg pain below the knee for over a year (both legs) .I'm a male 45, family history of hearts disease stroke etc

GP doesn’t think it’s circulatory, having blood tests. I have had (but not last 4yrs) episodes of irregular heart beat.

Seems I may have PAD ?

I had a bone density test over a year ago that came back normal

Dull ache both legs doesn’t seem to get worse if I walk longer

Have the ache when I sit , which worries me

Leg Pain in a Cardiac Patient

posted by James A. Norton on 15 Oct 2010 at 9:23 pm

I am a 58 year old male Healthcare Executive who now has 7 cardiac stents and significant cardiac disease. Tonight, while attending a social function, I started having very uncomfortable leg pain in both legs and I wasn't even doing anything! I was sitting, listening to a lecture and finally had to get up and leave due to the pain and discomfort. When I got home, I looked up leg pain on the internet and it immediately referred me to PAD since I have a significant cardiac history. I now think that I have a fairly good idea of what may be going on and I will make an appointment with my Cardiologist on Monday morning to address the issue. The pain was so uncomfortable that I found just walking to my car very difficult. This article on the internet may have just saved me much pain and possibly my life. Thanks you so much and thank God for the internet.

polio is damaging my artery in my lower right leg

posted by Aguilar on 18 Jan 2011 at 3:58 pm

I'm a 53 yo and I had polio as a child, from bellow my right knee, my father has diabetes and had Peripheral Arterial Disease, his right leg was amputated bellow the knee, the Dr saved his left leg performing the angeoplastic treatment as for me the same doctor performed 3 times the angeoplastic treatment and my artery keeps getting clog with scar tissue, where he placed the multiples stents.

I experience a lot of pain in my toes and my ankle, the options that I have very little to save my leg, one of them is to walk a lot so new blood vessels can developed. Please if anybody knows about a treatment or procedure that can help to save my leg and free me from pain

heart/legs pain

posted by vivian on 26 Aug 2011 at 6:29 am

I'm 23yrs old female. I have been having this pain for about a year now in my heart. The doctor said I have too much gas flowing through my heart. But they've not diagnosed that of my legs. Is the pain in my legs related to this heart pain. What should i do?

Knee Pain @ Teddy

posted by Jenny on 29 Nov 2011 at 3:02 am

I have found that when my knees and wrists get bad - crunching as I walk upstairs and hurting all the time taking vitamin D helps - whether that is from lying on a sun bed (not enough to tan) or taking cod liver oil makes the pain go away :-) It is always worse in winter as I don't get as much sun in the darker months... Best of luck to you all.

Smoking causes this

posted by James on 01 Dec 2011 at 12:54 pm

I get really bad stabbing pains in my legs and feet and sometimes even my head when I smoke, and it only clears up if I don't smoke for a few days. If people are wondering if smoking can do this then stop wondering. I can tell you it's gonna kill you if you don't stop smoking. I quit for a year and all this pain went away, but for some stupid reason I am back on them and the pain is just getting worse and worse each day I smoke. I am quitting again tomorrow, not because I want to, but because I know I'll be dead within a few months if I don't stop.

So take my advice , stop smoking before it kills you and never go back on them. Ever. Not even doing exercise helps me. I work out more than 4 times a week usually. Only thing that works is stopping smoking.

Just wanted to thank you!

posted by Jonnie on 03 Dec 2011 at 9:17 am

For years I've had cramps in my hip when I walked, but it wasn't bad. I eventually lost all hair on my legs. In the last year the cramps got worse and in the last month it limited me to only able to walk about a block and I'm only 54. I told my Dr. about it, but I already had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes and high blood pressure. So the cramps were ignored in favor of taking care of all the other problems. If it weren't for your site, I might have died. I convinced my doctor to order a PVR test and hip x-rays. I don't know what the results are yet, but at least if it's PAD, I won't be having a heart attack or stroke soon because I'll be able to do something about the PAD. Otherwise nothing would have been done. Thank you so much for your site and all the information that prodded me into taking action for PAD!
