How Can This Be Prevented? prednisone and fungal infection

posted by Anon on 03 Aug 2009 at 2:19 pm

On 28Jul09, after fighting it for a substantial period. I went to an Urgent Care Section of a VA hospital. I was deemed to have pneumonia. I was prescribed the following drugs; 1. Albuterol 90/Ipratrop 18mcg; 2. Codeine 10/GG; 3. Moxifloxacin HCI 400mg tab; 4. Prednisone 20mg tab. I could remember what each thing was for, except #4. I entered it into 'Yahoo Search' and selected the "Prednisone information - health results" The first entry under 'most important information I should know' was

"You should not use this medication if you are allergic to prednisone, or if you have a fungal infection anywhere in your body."

Most of us prior military have toenail fungus. I have tried for years to get rid of it. Drugs that endangered my liver, Grizpeg. Various paint on solutions, including bleach. Any way question is What Now? How would a patient even know this is a question that needs to be asked?

Pneumonia And Pets

i had pnemonia 2x this winter. and i can't get rid of it. i was hospitalized the first time because my lungs seized. i was perscribed a bronchodialator, prednisone, antibiotics, oxygen, some flu pill, codeine, and after 2 2/2 daygs it went away. but i can't seem to get rid of it on my own. even with a bronchiodialator. i think pets cause a lot of problems to people.

cause of pneumonia

posted by Rob on 01 Feb 2012 at 6:36 am

i am diagnosed with pneumonia i been sick close about two weeks i did not know i had pneumonia till i was told at the hospital. This is very serious stuff.
"Although pneumonia was regarded by William Osler in the 19th century as "the captain of the men of death", the advent of antibiotic therapy and vaccines in the 20th century have seen radical improvements in survival outcomes. Nevertheless, in the third world, and among the very old, the very young and the chronically ill, pneumonia remains a leading cause of death." Wiki

Do you know if it's really bad for him? He just turned 3 last month and is diagnosed with pneumonia and asthma, I'm really scared for him, any information about it will be greatly appreciated. Just want to know if the risk of fatal effects will be higher, or if he'll be okay with the right treatment..
